For electrode shaft spacing at 400+ um, regular arrays with 50 um wire will be a good choice. However, there are some special conditions such as recording a small area, where high-density arrays is the better choice.  Both 50 um and 25 um wires can be used to make high-density arrays. However, 25 um wire will significantly reduce insertion lesion and generate better chronic data.

High-density arrays are also a better choice to make a cluster of arrays for more than 16 channels. Both conventional and our modular connecter can be used to make the high-density arrays. However, modular connectors are a better choice for a cluster of arrays.

An example of 4x4 high density array with 250 um spacing between shaft is shown in the right panel. The array is made of 25 um microwire.
